Assessment with Intervention:
The goal of EYE and EYE 100 Learning Activities is to proactively assess and support each child early, improve their literacy success and reduce vulnerability. We know that while it is vital to provide educators with data, of equal importance is to link all of our assessments with an intervention. We provide teachers with 100 domain-strengthening activities they can use after administering the EYE to support the complex classroom needs we know they encounter. This is the first assessment that we know of that has an explicit link between assessment results and classroom practice.
To create this intervention, The Learning Bar teamed up with several highly skilled and experienced Canadian educators. This collaboration included an Early Childhood Development Supervisor, a Speech-Language Pathologist, an Occupational Therapist, and a Physical Therapist. All of the learning activities are rooted in the science of reading literacy and are designed to help strengthen children’s skills across multiple domains
The EYE 100 Learning Activities are comprised of 20 sets of learning activities, with each set of 5 activities including:
- 2 activities that focus on cognitive skills (equal focus on both literacy and numeracy)
- 2 activities that focus on language and communication (expressive and receptive)
- 1 inquiry-based activity with a STEAM focus.
