Easy Extensions for Existing Classroom Activities to Assess EYE-TA Items Print or save as PDF

These activities are a collation of over a hundred activity suggestions by kindergarten teachers collected at EYE-TA Early Years Evaluation – Teacher Assessment (EYE-TA) in-person training sessions. Teachers listed the activities, routines, and centres they were already doing in their classrooms, and then matched those up with EYE-TA assessment items. Then, other teachers would think of simple modifications or extensions to these everyday activities to assess more EYE-TA items.

Each activity starts off with the basic activity in bold, and then suggested extensions are listed as bullet points. We’ve added cues throughout the activity description to let you know where specific EYE-TA items can be assessed. You may also choose to refer to the table on the right to see which items each activity covers.

We have not included specific mention of any of the Domain B items (Social Skills and Approaches to Learning) in the activities since children can be assessed on these items through most regular activities, centres, routines, and interactions during the school day.
