Welcome back!

The Learning Bar’s vision is ”giving all children the opportunity to thrive”. The Early Years Evaluation (EYE) solutions are an important step on a child's pathway to achieving this.

Our EYE team is excited to share with you some wonderful new features and resources for the 2021/22 school year.

EYE Training Sessions - Take this training to get you up to speed

We are excited to announce the return of our online EYE training sessions, available for both the EYE-Direct Assessment and EYE-Teacher Assessment! The format, delivered via our new learning management system (LMS) called Absorb, allows teachers and other support staff to complete their training independently and at their own pace.

Benefits & features:

  • Saves the cost and time for bringing teachers together physically or arrange for group training
Provides an engaging format for learning including videos, required reading, resources, and knowledge checks
  • Access is granted for the entire school year, allowing teachers to refer back to the material as needed
  • Training is available for additional teachers at any time during the school year
Progress reports are available to monitor users’ completion of the course.

Jurisdictions can purchase individual licenses at a flat rate of $195 per participant. An invoice will be sent to you upon confirmation of your purchase, and any additional licenses added at a later date will be billed separately.

Entering Data Online - Do your educators need practice?

We’re excited to announce that we will have EYE-DA and EYE-TA online data entry practice accounts available this school year! You can use these accounts to show educators how to edit class lists, enter scores and generate reports, and/or accounts can be set up for educators so they can practice themselves. More info coming soon.

Customize Your EYE Report - Enhanced filtering options for downloading report batches

You can now customize your batch report download to get only the reports you need by using options like language, report type, and RTI result. These filtering options are available on the Download Reports page, after the assessment has been completed.

Grade 1 Classroom Builder - Reorganize EYE-TA classes to align with Grade 1 class lists

This time-saving feature allows administrators to produce a report for each Grade 1 classroom containing the domain and RTI results from the children's most recent EYE-TA evaluation. Grade 1 teachers no longer need to access multiple EYE reports in order to view all the EYE results for their current class! Click here for more information.

This new feature also works for the EYE-DA as well, with filtering options including Language and Child Report/Action Plans.

This first edition of the 2021-2022 EYE newsletter is only going out to coordinators, so feel free to share it with your teachers! If you have opted for your teachers to receive the newsletter on the implementation form, they will soon receive our September edition.

Join us as we address common instructional questions related to teaching reading and strategies to support students at different stages of reading development. Common questions to be discussed include:

  • What are the differences between phonological awareness, phonemic awareness, and phonics, and why are they important?
  • How do children learn to automatically recognize words and read fluently?
  • How do we teach children to comprehend texts they read?

Find out the answers to these questions and more!
