Informing, Inspiring, and Empowering Educators with the Early Years Evaluation – Direct Assessment Print or save as PDF

A child is not a sum of his or her abilities in literacy, mathematics, or science; a child’s learning potential is influenced by many factors, including family, school, and community. These cumulative factors impact every stage of a child’s life. Educators working with children believe in high levels of success for all. However, the capacity of a society to develop young people’s literacy skills, early developmental skills, and well-being depends on its ability to provide the right type of human and material resources to support healthy child development from conception to adolescence and beyond. By gathering the right information about each child's development, we can work together to better understand learning needs. When we know how we can best support children, we can collaborate with families and communities to develop a successful personalized plan that meets the learning needs of every child.
